The role
A client company in Romulus is seeking a warehouse order selector to support the receipt, storage and dispatch of bakery products and ingredients in a distribution warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Select customer orders accurately, build pallets and shrink-wrap them for delivery.
- Receive incoming products, store them in designated locations, and rotate and replenish stock.
- Load trailers safely and evenly.
- Operate a forklift, pallet jacks, electric rider pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, trailer lift gates and pallet-wrapping machines.
- Use handheld computers and scanners for warehouse operations.
- Keep the warehouse clean and follow safe food-handling procedures.
Schedule and work environment
Sunday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., or until the work is finished. The schedule is at least 40 hours per week. Overtime and weekend work may be required according to business needs.
What you bring
- At least 6 months of relevant experience or 1 full year of work experience in another field.
- Ability to safely operate the listed warehouse equipment.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lb or more and regularly lift or move up to 80 lb. The job involves standing and walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, and bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
- Ability to work in cool or cold temperatures and tolerate potential exposure to allergens, including peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, wheat and soy.
- Availability for overtime and weekend work as needed.
Pay and benefits
- Base pay of $21.55 per hour, plus a $1.00 per hour afternoon-shift differential ($22.55 per hour total).
