Develop and embed safety policy, advise and coach colleagues, and carry out risk assessments, audits and incident investigations. HBO-level capability, IVK, VCA-VOL and at least 3-5 years of relevant experience are required.
The role
At our client company, you will maintain, develop and implement the integrated safety policy. You will work closely with project managers, the quality, occupational health and environment manager, environmental and sustainability specialists, and safety officers. You will advise, guide and support colleagues, helping embed safety across projects and work processes at strategic, tactical and operational levels.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, develop and implement safety policy in line with strategic objectives and applicable laws and regulations, including ISO 45001 and Safety Culture Ladder Step 4.
- Carry out risk assessments, develop risk management plans and recommend preventive measures.
- Coordinate and facilitate safety awareness and onboarding training, including procedures for using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Advise and coach safety officers and other team members.
- Investigate incidents, including near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
- Inspect and audit workplaces and monitor compliance with safety requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspections, incidents and training; produce quarterly and annual reports and advise management on improvements.
- Work with internal and external parties, including clients, auditors and regulators, to support compliance with applicable requirements.
Location and working pattern
The position is based in Amersfoort, Utrecht. It can be performed part-time or full-time.
What you bring
- Professional working and thinking level equivalent to Dutch HBO (higher professional education).
- Completed IVK (Industrial Safety Specialist) training.
- VCA-VOL certificate.
- Knowledge of and experience with ISO certification processes, especially ISO 45001.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as an occupational health and safety specialist or prevention officer.
- Strong coaching and advisory skills.
- Excellent spoken and written Dutch.
- Organisational awareness and the ability to maintain an overview across several projects.
- Familiarity with Syntess Atrium and MS Office; practical experience with both is an advantage.
