The role
As Warehouse Supervisor at our client company in Dar es Salaam, you are responsible for smooth, efficient and cost-conscious cargo handling at the terminal. You oversee staff and operations in your assigned area and help ensure effective use of personnel and equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee terminal operations and the flow of information in your assigned area.
- Supervise the unloading, stacking and packing of cargo, promote efficient use of space and safe working practices, and keep warehouse plans up to date as instructed.
- Control terminal operating costs within approved limits. Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, work instructions and other requirements, and report issues to the Terminal Manager.
- Work toward daily and shift production targets. Plan staffing needs and equipment use with the Terminal Manager, promoting efficient use of staff and fuel.
- Update operational reports as instructed, including on digital platforms, and ensure operational staff report accurately and on time. Report on operational matters daily and notify the Terminal Manager of unusual issues 24/7.
- Participate in staff performance reviews as needed, identify training needs and oversee housekeeping.
- Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety, environmental, chemical management and customs requirements. Follow relevant safety policies and procedures yourself.
