Our client company in Medley is hiring a forklift operator for a weekday day shift, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Permanent employment and $21.50 per hour.
The role
Work in our client company’s distribution warehouse in Medley, handling incoming and outgoing freight and helping keep cargo movement safe, accurate, and on schedule.
What you’ll do
- Use shipment manifests to sort and stage freight for the correct routes, and help drivers load and unload trucks.
- Pick, pack, scan, and count products and, where needed, assemble kits; complete related system work accurately and on time.
- Identify and record overages, shortages, and damaged goods.
- Safely operate a sit-down forklift and pallet jacks, and use strapping and shrink-wrap materials.
- Keep the work area clean and safe and follow detailed work and safety instructions.
Schedule
- Day shift, Monday to Friday, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- 40 hours per week; overtime as needed and occasional weekend work.
What you bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous warehouse experience, preferably one year.
- Experience with an RF scanner is required.
- Ability to use a sit-down forklift, pallet jacks, and strapping and shrink-wrap materials; forklift certification preferred.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and to speak, read, and write in English.
- Good teamwork, attention to detail, and ability to work with little supervision.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lb (about 23 kg) without assistance. The role also involves extended standing and walking, frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and lifting overhead.
