The role
At our client company in Greensboro, you will safely receive, store, transfer and dispatch liquid and dry chemical products. This hands-on warehouse role requires accuracy, care and a strong focus on safe handling.
What you will do
- Load and unload trucks, tankers and railcars; connect and disconnect transfer hoses and inspect transport equipment before and after handling.
- Match products against receiving and shipping documents, report discrepancies or damage, take samples with laboratory staff, and record quantities and inventory movements in digital systems.
- Pick and stage orders; fill suitable containers such as drums, totes and pails, label and store or palletize them according to instructions. Take extra care with products subject to specific quality or food-grade requirements.
- Operate standing and sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks and drum-handling equipment; complete daily forklift checks and move raw materials to production and finished products to the warehouse.
- Use electronic scales and other operating devices; inspect stock, report damage or deterioration, rearrange storage and help with inventory counts.
- Keep the warehouse clean, accessible and safe; report and clean up spills promptly. Store hazardous-waste drums as prescribed and help with mixing products when required.
Schedule and work environment
You must be available any day of the week for assigned 8–12-hour shifts. Shifts vary, and weekend work or overtime may be needed. The work involves prolonged standing and walking, lifting and carrying bags, pails, boxes and pallets, and climbing stairs or ladders to tanks, tankers and railcars. Outdoor work in changing and sometimes extreme weather is possible. You must pass the required company physical and training, and wear assigned personal protective equipment, which may include respiratory protection.
What you bring
- A high school diploma, GED or military experience. Applicants with at least two years of chemical operations experience may be considered if they do not fully meet the education or military-service requirement.
- Forklift operator certification, or the ability to pass the exam to obtain it, and the ability to operate a forklift safely.
- The ability to read, understand and follow instructions in English and write simple correspondence in English.
- Basic arithmetic across different units of measure and the ability to learn technology-based equipment and systems, including phones, tablets, computers and process-control devices.
- A good safety and attendance record, the ability to work cooperatively with other departments and a commitment to following procedures.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and employment eligibility verification. You must participate in safety meetings and training, wear required safety equipment and follow hazardous-material placarding rules when loading and unloading trucks.
- For locations subject to maritime transport security requirements, you must be eligible to obtain the required access credential.
