Work on ATEX and machine-safety challenges, carrying out risk assessments, zoning studies and CE projects. Advise clients and help put practical improvements in place. 32–40 hours per week, based in Hengelo with assignments across the Netherlands.

The role

As a Technical Safety Specialist specialising in ATEX and machine safety, you analyse technical risks for organisations in industry, engineering, installation, manufacturing and infrastructure. You turn legislation and standards into solutions that are technically sound and practical to implement. The role is based in Hengelo, Overijssel, with assignments throughout the Netherlands.

What you’ll do

  • Carry out ATEX risk assessments and zoning studies for gas, vapour and dust explosion hazards, and prepare Explosion Protection Documents (EVDs).
  • Advise on measures under ATEX 153 and ATEX 114, and assess installations and work equipment for explosion safety.
  • Analyse risks involving machines and production lines, assessing them against the Machinery Directive and Machinery Regulation.
  • Carry out and support CE projects. Review technical files, instructions for use and conformity documentation.
  • Advise on guards, safety functions, emergency-stop devices, control systems and other technical safety measures.
  • Visit client sites to carry out technical safety inspections. Turn findings into clear reports, advice and improvement plans, and support their practical implementation.

What you bring

  • A technical qualification at least at mbo+/hbo level, for example in mechanical, electrical or process engineering.
  • Preferably an MVK, HVK or comparable occupational safety qualification.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ATEX and explosion safety, as well as machine safety and CE marking.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and guidelines, such as NEN-EN-IEC 60079, NPR 7910, NEN-EN-ISO 12100, NEN-EN-ISO 13849 and NEN-EN-IEC 60204-1.
  • An interest in installations, machinery and production processes, alongside relevant experience and technical insight.
  • The ability to analyse technical risks and translate them into practical measures. You communicate well, work independently and with a customer focus, and contribute as a team player.

You do not need to meet every specialist requirement from day one; relevant experience and technical understanding also matter.

What’s on offer

The role is for 32 to 40 hours per week. You’ll work with a strong team, have room to develop and benefit from good employment conditions.
