The role
As a SHEQ Officer (Safety) with our client company in Rotterdam, you help ensure compliance with internal and statutory requirements covering transport, safety, health, the environment and quality. Safety is central to the role. You also advise on accepting new products at the terminals and support projects in the SHEQ field.
Your responsibilities include:
- Reviewing applications for new products, maintaining product information and managing the system used to register and assess workplace risks involving hazardous substances.
- Advising internal stakeholders on product information, product acceptance and the transport of dangerous goods.
- Contributing safety input to new-build, modification and management-of-change (MOC) projects; supporting and improving product acceptance and transport procedures.
- Acting as a point of contact for competent authorities, in consultation with the safety adviser.
- Investigating incidents and conducting internal audits on SHEQ topics at other sites.
- Taking part in a personal protective equipment committee and external industry meetings, and supporting occupational hygiene initiatives.
What you bring
- A completed higher professional education qualification (HBO); academic-level working and thinking ability (WO) is preferred.
- At least five years of relevant experience in a comparable role at a terminal or in a related industry.
- A proven track record and knowledge of products and ADN/ADR transport regulations, or willingness to complete relevant training.
- Fluency in Dutch and a good command of English.
- High safety awareness and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with people at all levels.
- Resilience under pressure, flexibility and integrity.
