The role
At our client company in Veendam, Groningen, you will work as a mid-level occupational safety specialist with an interest in biogas safety. The position may also suit a higher-level safety specialist in training. Working with the internal Safety and KAM adviser, you will help strengthen safety and environmental awareness and support compliance with legislation. Subject to demonstrated suitability and development, there is scope to progress towards an HVK role.
Responsibilities
- Promote safety and environmental awareness through toolbox talks and workplace inspections, and discuss safety at work meetings and other meetings.
- Review safety and health plans, drawings and project documents, and propose improvements.
- Support and guide employees in preparing task risk analyses (TRAs).
- Identify and assess safety and environmental risks, and advise on appropriate control measures and improvement actions.
- Advise and support on management of change, (bio)gas safety, ATEX and occupational health and safety. Monitor and implement relevant legislation in collaboration with the Safety and KAM function.
- Lead and coordinate modification projects related to biogas safety, reviewing requirement specifications, drawings, calculations and inspection plans.
- Maintain and update safety and technical documentation, including tag coding. Carry out site-specific risk inventories and evaluations (RI&Es), safety rounds and workplace inspections.
- Coordinate and evaluate drills, training and courses on (bio)gas safety, and follow up on improvement actions.
What you bring
- MBO or HBO educational level, a completed MVK qualification and a technical educational background.
- Knowledge of and experience with legislation on occupational health and safety and biogas safety.
- Experience preparing TRAs and RI&Es.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to persuade and motivate others.
- The ability to work independently and proactively identify and resolve safety issues.
- For possible progression to an HVK role, demonstrated suitability and a completed HVK qualification are required.
- A VOG may form part of the procedure.
