The role
As a Junior Chemical Analyst, you independently perform wet-chemical and physical analyses of oil, petrochemical and agricultural samples in a laboratory in Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland. You handle daily sample flows, typically several dozen to a few hundred samples per week. The samples come from low-mix/high-volume and serial-production settings. The analyses support batch and semi-continuous processes and are often carried out using semi-automated equipment.
Responsibilities
- Report analysis results accurately and in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensure proper maintenance and manage supplies.
- Safeguard the quality and integrity of test data and samples, and handle confidential information carefully.
- Support the development and improvement of laboratory methods and work instructions.
- Take technical responsibility for method evaluations and improvement projects, which usually last from several weeks to a few months. Final responsibility for planning and budget remains with the lab or operations manager.
- Work with automatic data logging through instrument software and manual records in a LIMS and a standard ERP system. Prepare basic reports and root-cause analyses.
- Contribute to Lean practices, KPI boards and periodic improvement groups, proposing and implementing practical changes within agreed limits.
- Work closely with QA/QC, maintenance, operations and R&D, and report to the lab manager or operations manager.
