Help improve health, safety and environmental performance at our client company in IJmuiden. You will investigate incidents, contribute to risk assessments and encourage safe working practices.
The role
As an HSE Specialist at our client company in IJmuiden, you will help improve its Health, Safety and Environment performance on a sustained basis. You will act as the central point of contact for safety incidents and work with colleagues to strengthen safety awareness throughout the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate reports of accidents, near misses, unsafe situations and environmental incidents; analyse incidents and follow up on preventive and corrective measures.
- Provide expert input for risk assessments and task risk analyses (TRA), develop improvement proposals or guide their implementation, and support healthier and safer operations.
- Organise and conduct safety walks and workplace inspections; deliver HSE briefings, toolbox talks and training on workplace hazards and safe behaviour.
- Strengthen safety awareness and encourage employees to follow internal and industry safety rules. Prepare concise reports with relevant KPIs to show HSE performance and highlight improvement opportunities.
- Assess hazards and environmental aspects when new substances and chemicals are introduced.
What you bring
- A completed HBO-level qualification in engineering, chemistry or a comparable field, plus a completed MVK or HVK qualification.
- At least five years of comparable experience in production or an industrial environment.
- A pragmatic, organised and analytical approach, integrity and a collaborative mindset.
- Clear communication at all levels, from management to the shop floor. You know when to align with others, can build support and can enforce standards or escalate issues when needed.
- Knowledge of machinery safety and ISO 45001 is an advantage.
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Excellent spoken and written Dutch and English.
