As HSE Officer in Hoek, you will oversee HSE policy at a chemical production site. You will assess risks, support regulatory compliance and drive improvements while advising employees and management.
The role
As HSE Officer, you are responsible for health, safety and environmental policy at a chemical production site in Hoek. You promote safe working practices and advise employees and management. You will build an in-depth understanding of the production process to identify and assess process risks.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the site complies with applicable HSE laws and requirements, including BRZO (Seveso), the Activities Decree (Activiteitenbesluit), WABO, the Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and the PGS series.
- Monitor legislative changes and assess their implications and opportunities for the site.
- Identify safety and environmental risks and intervene when safety or the environment is at risk.
- Maintain contact with authorities and external advisers, and oversee certification bodies.
- Prepare for BRZO and WABO inspections.
- Actively participate in the MOC (Management of Change) process and HAZOP studies.
- Monitor improvements to incident and unusual-event reporting and ensure consistent application of the PDCA cycle.
- Manage internal SOPs and procedures on health, safety and the environment.
- Advise management on improving processes and procedures.
- Deliver toolbox talks and HSE briefings, and contribute to permit applications.
Your profile
- A completed technical higher professional education at HBO level, supplemented by Higher Safety Expert (HVK) training or equivalent.
- Several years of relevant experience in the (chemical) industry is preferred.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Dutch laws and regulations covering safety, health, the environment and occupational health and safety (ARBO).
- Able to work independently, take a proactive approach and communicate clearly with people at different levels.
- You command both Dutch and English.
- Affinity with IPLs and LOPA.
