Connect environmental policy with production practice as an HSE Engineer. Manage the ISO 14001 system, assess risks in chemical processes and work 32–40 hours a week in Eerbeek. Salary up to €5,700 gross per month.
The role
Our client company in Eerbeek is looking for an HSE Engineer to join its QHSE team. Environmental management is your main focus. You will connect policy with day-to-day practice in a manufacturing environment involving chemical processes, water, energy and raw materials.
You will assess the environmental impact and risks of changes, such as installing a new machine, modifying a production process or changing waste storage arrangements. You will work with project leads, developers and production colleagues to identify suitable measures.
You will manage and develop the ISO 14001 environmental management system. This includes documenting processes, carrying out environmental risk assessments, coordinating and supporting audits, preparing reports and reviewing research results, such as water-sample analyses. You will also handle environmental notifications and incidents and help put improvements into practice. You will explain requirements to colleagues and provide guidance or training where needed.
You will liaise with relevant authorities, inspectors and other external parties about environmental regulations, inspections and permits. When needed, you will support communication with local residents. Internally, you will work with colleagues on energy use and sustainability. You will collaborate closely with the QHSE manager and colleagues responsible for quality and safety. An external environmental specialist will be available as a technical resource while you settle into the role and develop further.
What you bring
You want to understand how processes work and how their environmental impact can be improved. You are curious and investigative, take responsibility and turn ideas into action. You actively seek collaboration, listen, ask questions and involve colleagues in improvements. You take a practical approach and adapt your communication to your audience while keeping production needs and environmental requirements in view.
- Higher professional (HBO) level of working and thinking; a relevant qualification in environmental science, chemistry, process technology or a similar field is preferred.
- A sound foundation in chemistry to help you understand production processes and their associated risks.
- Good command of Dutch and English.
- Production experience is an advantage. Knowledge of ISO 14001, environmental legislation and audits is also an advantage.
- Knowledge of FMEA, 8D or Lean is a plus.
- An MVK or HVK qualification can help broaden your knowledge. Candidates from other relevant backgrounds are also welcome if they have the required chemistry foundation and HBO-level capability.
Hours and what is offered
You will work 32–40 hours per week, primarily in Eerbeek. Working hours are flexible. Meetings with international colleagues may occasionally call for a later finish; you can adjust your working time accordingly.
The gross salary is up to €5,700 per month, depending on your knowledge and experience. The offer also includes 27 days of annual leave and 13 ADV days, a profit-sharing payment, and room for training, development and professional growth. An external environmental specialist is available for expert support as you learn the role.
