The role
As an HSE Advisor, you are the point of contact for health, safety and environmental matters across several operating units of our client company and at production and project sites. You work with the HSE team and report to the HSE Manager. Approximately 20% of your time is spent on reports, ongoing matters and projects, 40% on safety checks and improvements, and 40% on advising, instructing and training colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Review incident reports, analyse trends in incidents and near misses, and determine whether further investigation is needed.
- Prepare toolbox talks and oversee their delivery; provide HSE training and write procedures and work instructions.
- Carry out workplace inspections and internal audits, prepare reports, and discuss findings and follow-up actions.
- Advise project staff on risks at project sites and carry out risk analyses, including task risk analyses (TRAs).
- Prepare safety and health plans and contribute to developing and implementing HSE policy.
- Follow up audit actions and risk inventories and evaluations (RI&Es); help manage and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
- Visit production halls and project sites.
What you bring
- HBO-level work and thinking ability; a completed Middelbare Veiligheidskunde (MVK) qualification is preferred.
- At least two years of relevant experience at production and/or project sites.
- A valid BHV workplace emergency response certificate, or willingness to obtain one; VCA VOL certification is an advantage.
- Good spoken and written Dutch and English.
- Willingness to travel between operating units and project sites, including internationally.
- Attention to detail, planning and organisational skills, and an advisory, proactive approach.
- Empathy and strong communication skills.
