The role

At our client company in Leiden, you will work in a QC laboratory with Dutch- and English-speaking colleagues. • Independently carry out physical and wet-chemical analyses, including identification tests and methods involving FTIR, UV, optical rotation, TLC, pH measurements and titrations.
  • Record and report results according to the prescribed procedures.
  • Complete practical on-the-job training and earn certifications in laboratory techniques and GMP.
  • Take part in project and laboratory team meetings.
  • Support projects such as testing new equipment, starting customer projects and improving internal work processes.
  • Train new colleagues as you gain experience.

What you bring

  • An MBO- or HBO-level diploma in analytical chemistry, chemistry, organic chemistry or a comparable field.
  • You are starting your career or already have some experience with chemical laboratory testing.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or a related industry is an advantage.
  • Experience with wet-chemical analytical techniques and a quality system such as GMP, GLP or ISO 17025 is preferred.
  • You work accurately and responsibly, with an eye for the quality of your own work and that of your colleagues.
  • You have a good command of spoken and written English and can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • You can work under time pressure and plan and organise your tasks independently. You are motivated, eager to learn and quick to pick up new techniques.
  • You want to help improve the department with your colleagues. You work efficiently, look for ways to streamline processes and have good social and communication skills.
  • You live in the Netherlands within a reasonable distance of Leiden and hold a valid work permit.

What is offered

  • A responsible and challenging role in a close-knit team, with room for your ideas and input.
  • A competitive salary and flexible working hours.
  • 25 days of annual leave based on a full-time contract, with the option to purchase 7 additional days.
  • A net travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometre; public transport costs are fully reimbursed.
  • Participation in a pension scheme, with the employer paying 50% of the contribution.
  • A monthly choice budget accruing at 8.5% of your gross salary. It includes, among other things, holiday allowance and a year-end bonus; you can have it paid out or use it, for example, for additional days off.
